One Family's attempt to live simply, while simply following. Jesus that is!
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor

After a great night of rest (thank you Lord for AC units), Day Two in San Pedro Sula got started with breakfast. And what I mean is eggs, bread, ham, and refried beans in the morning! Yes, beans for breakfast! Talk about hitting the jackpot!
After breakfast we headed out to a local retirement community! There we got to meet probably around 40-50 elderly Hondurans. I got the priviledge of being introduced to men like Thomas, who is the fine man pictured above. We were able sing, do sign art, and pray with our new friends. The conditions these folks were living under were slightly better than the orphange we visited last night, but it was still heart breaking to see men and women, some with disabilities, have to operate in such fashion. I couldn’t help but think of my wife Tara. She has such an incredible heart for the elderly and I could just imagine how much she would love on these people. I have missed her tremendously over the past two days, but today I found myself longing for her that much more. I can’t wait till we have the opporunity to serve together!
A pic of the sign art crew! Mighty to Save!
After the retirement home, we quickly headed to a school. Most of the kids were high-school aged and we basically had about 30-45 minutes to spend with them. We sang a few songs, had a few folks share their testimony, and then I was giving the opportunity to share with them about Jesus Christ. I tried to use the game of futbol to connect, sharing with them that life with Christ was the equivalent of futbol with a ball. Just as you need a soccer ball to have a effective (or any) game, a life without Christ is unsufficient. They had been created by Him, to have a relationship with Him. It was a humbling experience and one that highlighted to me the life that Justin and Ashley Ross are living. I am more and more amazed at just how incredible they are and I am in awe of how the Lord is using them. I am blessed to get to spend a week with them and I treasure the time in ministry with them.

After lunch, we then headed to another school to do a similiar program, however some weather was moving in pretty quickly. We shortened our plans, but the weather did not dampen the outcome. After a sign art performance and a testimony from Kris Jones, Chuck Geveden took a few minutes to share the gospel. It was amazing to watch as 12-13 children bowed their head with Justin and welcomed Christ into their lives. Just when we were at our most chaotic, Christ was totally in control! It was a amazing moment to be a part of!

The rains then came in and we had to postpone our trip to Los Bordos. We ended up heading over to the local market for a little shopping. We had planned to do so on Wednesday, but now our hope is to head over to the Bordos.
We ended the night was some great local cooking and then had some praise and worship as a group. It was great to share testimony of our trip thus far and reflect on what God is doing on our trip. Hearing the stories of our group are just cool and it is amazing the opportunities He is giving us!
It was a full day, but tomorrow calls for more. Check back soon!
